Anders Larson on Free Improvisation as a Daily Practice Routine

Swedish trombone player Anders Larson has posted a wonderful article on his blog about using free improvisation as part of your daily practice routine. I particularly liked his simple and effective three-step approach to getting started if you haven't before:
  1. You play a note.
  2. You play another note.
  3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 for five minutes.
It really is that simple. You are not playing in front of an audience, or trying to impress your colleagues. Just let go, and focus on making music.
Be sure to read the entire article over on his blog, Digital Trombone.
