The latest solo transcription posted by British trombonist and educator Rob Egerton is a classic: Frank Rosolino's solo from Stan Kenton's Prologue (This is an Orchestra!), one of of my all-time favorite tracks from one of my all-time favorite records, Stan Kenton's New Concepts of Artistry in Rhythm. Rosolino begins with his signature lick of the day, and swings it out with much of his classic vocabulary. There's tons of great stuff in this short-but-sweet solo, and the rest of the album is a tour de force for him, including the sizzling solo feature for Frank, Frank Speaking.
